HOW TO ADOPT
Our adoption process is a simple one. When you come to the adoption center, you will fill out an application and a volunteer will interview you and ask about your cat knowledge and experience as well as your other pets. They then make the decision on whether a home is appropriate for one of our cats. If approved, the adoption volunteers will work with you to choose the cat or kitten that will be the best match for you. Some adult cats may be adopted singly, but we prefer to adopt out kittens in pairs unless you have a cat already in residence.

King Street Cats asks for a $125 non-refundable adoption fee to adopt a cat or kitten. The fee includes:

A cat that has been to a vet and tested for FELV/FHIV. They are not put up for adoption unless the tests are negative.
An adult cat that is up-to-date on vaccinations before being made available for adoption. (Kittens will have had their first shots)
Cats and kittens older than four months are spayed or neutered before they are placed for adoption.
Post-adoption support: our volunteers are very knowledgeable about cat care. We encourage adopters to call us with any questions.

No private animal shelter or rescue group could survive without adoption fees or contributions. At King Street Cats, monies go toward food, veterinary care and medicine, among other things, for the cats and kittens we rescue until they are adopted.

As we are an all-volunteer organization and thus have extremely low administrative costs, more than 85% of fees and contributions go directly toward the costs of food and care for our orphaned cats and kittens.
