King is a real sweety. She slept behind my knees all night & was still there when I woke up this morning. Then she immediately ran into the kitchen...it didn't take her long to figure out the routine!
Ebony (who I have renamed “Lexa”) is settling in well. She and Roxy, my other cat, introduced themselves while I was sleeping last night (he figured out how to open the bedroom door) and they seem to be getting along well. We all took a nap in the sun this afternoon.
Hobo has a new name which I think is more fitting considering he is now living the life of 'Riley'. I am absolutely amazed how great of a cat he is. He has come out of his shell so much faster than I predicted. He's very comfortable in his new home. He really is such a great cat. Someone loved him very much before he was a stray because it shows. He has adapted to his new surroundings very quickly and is getting along with the dog better than I could have ever hoped. We couldn't have asked for a better cat. Truly a success story if there ever was one.
I just want to say thank you for Harley (a.k.a Punkin). She is so wonderful
and loving, not to mention very smart. Punkin has learned how to sit and it only took one day to get it. She is just an absolute joy and punkin has captured my heart completly. Thanks again for such an amazing kitten.
Shammy is doing just great. I love her so much and I feel like she is very happy here. I was worried that life without other cats may be tough on her, but I truly think she is satisfied having full run of the place. She cracks us up every day and I swear she may be part dog by the way she fetches, plays and greats us when we come in. She is so good: she loves riding in her new cat carrier (to the vet, to Petco and on ramdom errands), she even walks on a leash and harness around the building (I wanted her to be familiar with outside in case she ever got out) and she has been so sweet when we have had guests.
(Tempest) is doing great! We have not renamed her, because Tempest is simply perfect for her personality. She is a gray storm of playfulness :) She is very cuddly and sweet with humans, and crazy playful with our dog and new cat.
Fluffy is now Dumplin, Aragog is now Angel and Norbert is now Alley.
These little darlings have bought me more joy in the last 4 months than I have had in a long time. I cannot remember laughing so much.
Renee and Wren are doing well in their new home. Renee is as feisty and frisky as ever. Wren took a little more time to adopt, but he now insists that he owns the laps of his family and any associated couch or bedspace they occupy. At night, the two play chasing games in the living room. It turns out Wren is as playful with Renee as Renee is by herself.
Ceasar and Cleopatra are now named Sampson and Delilah. Both are growing and playing up a storm. They are very happy and loved in their new home.
Felix is growing with so much love. He's now up to 10 pounds (up from 7 pounds) and loves to cuddle with his new cat brother Jasper.
Scooter II is a total sweetheart. I renamed her Lucy -- a favorite name of mine and easier for me to use with her. Whether she knows it's her name or not I'm not sure but she does gurgle and purr whenever she hears my high-pitched voice calling out "Lucy Lucy Lucy. Socially she is curious -- she likes people but does not like to be picked up or held (though I've found a way of holding her that seems to calm her.) She is not a lap cat -- which I knew when I adopted her -- but I'm hoping she will one day sit on my lap -- or at least sleep on my bed. She hasn't yet found a favorite place to sleep -- she has several places she returns to, but it's hard for me to know where to put the heating pad! (now that cold weather is coming!)
Lucy is totally laid back -- calm, so easy to care for. It’s been quite amazing to me how non-anxious she's been since she came here. She has a gurgling kind of talk -- which I adore. Sometimes I'll call her and she gurgles back at me from behind the sofa!
We did not rename Amadeus although I think he thinks his name is kitty. He is very social and loves to talk when my husband and I are home (he loves to give kisses and be in our lap every chance he gets too) He has no problems at all eating or drinking in fact he LOVES water We love him so much and were so glad to have him!
Queen of Sheeba is doing fine. She is a lovely cat, and she has made herself right at home. I am convinced that she was somebody's cat as she is very tame and people oriented, and she loves a warm lap to sit in.
Amber continues to be a wonderful addition to our family! She is very outgoing and she and Jenny get along well. Her nickname is Pudge-although she isn’t the least pudgy-it just seemed to fit.
Penny (aka, Ellie) is doing just fine. When we first got her she did not like to be brushed. Now each morning after my shower she comes to visit me in the bathroom and asks with her little meows to be brushed. I make time since this is a big step for her! She gets along fine with her new brothers. They sometimes chase each other up and down the stairs for exercise. We are happy to have her in our home and she seems quite content as well.
Annabelle snuggles up in bed every night and purrs as her parents fall asleep. She is the first sound the hear in the morning and runs to greet them coming home from work. "My life is much richer with her here in our home. My loneliness is less. Thank you again for the gift of Annabelle."
TicTac is a doll! That's still her name--perfect for her. She loves my husband (smart cat!) and spends as much time as possible on his pillow. She's very sociable, plays with the dogs and watches birds from the window. She's enchanted--I think she sees pixies.
Marigold is a wonderful cat -- very gentle and very social. She's become a loved member of our family.
Ryan and Black Sabbath are now called Mischief and Dante. Mischief is very social. He loves to rub up against people and have his tummy rubbed. Dante is a little shy at first but likes to walk back and forth in front of the couch and have you rub him as he goes by. They are both getting along with their older brother Max. They all play together and all 3 sleep on their mom's bed at night. They also groom each other. Dante will squawk at you if you don't clean the litter box often enough for him. He runs his paw around the rim of the box to make sure there are no litter pieces up there. Dante is obsessed with bugs. He sits in the windows and talks to them.
Ribbon is now called Cali and she is just wonderful. She is a real talker and very cuddly -- a real joy to have around. She is extremely social -- she even comes when she's called. We don't have other pets, so she gets all the attention and is probably a little spoiled. My husband and I both adore her.
Hope is now named Cordelia. Her mom says she is the prettiest, most playful fuzzy butt in the house. She adjusted quickly to life with 2 pooches and the elder feline, who she adores and follows everywhere. She is very playful and engages him every opportunity. Her favorite new toy is one of those wire/cardboard thingies. She knows her name, comes when called, and has even helped be an alarm clock most mornings at 5:15. Her family loves how verbal she is, and she is the first of a lifetime of felines with beautiful trilling vocals. But her mom's favorite time with Cordelia is when she (and the other 3 fuzzy butts) eagerly follows her for an afternoon cat nap.
Lisa and Lindy Hop now named Bertram and Miss Caroline, are are incredibly intelligent and extremely sweet natured. They love playing with their catnip teddy bears and woolly sheep and particularly love batting around a ball in a circular track that lights up when struck. Everyone who meets them is amazed at how 'socialized' they are. It is definitely apparent that they were human hand-raised and their experience at the open shelter of KSC makes them easy to get along with in relation to other cats. Their family says, "They have so many endearing qualities too numerous to list, but, in short, they have captivated my heart and bring so much joy. It is quite a giggle seeing them chase one another up, down, and all around the entire house. Whatever did I do before them?"
