What About Me? (TM)

"This Old Cat"
by KC Sievert Bingamon

I'm getting on in years,
My coat is turning gray.
My eyes have lost their luster,
My hearing's just okay.
I spend my day dreaming
Of conquests in my past,
Lying near a sunny window
Waiting for its warm repast.

I remember our first visit,
I was coming to you free,
Hoping you would take me in
And keep me company.
I wasn't young or handsome,
Two years I'd roamed the street.
There were scars upon my face,
I hobbled on my feet.

I could sense your disappointment
As I left my prison cage.
Oh, I hoped you would accept me
And look beyond my age.
You took me out of pity,
I accepted without shame.
Then you grew to love me,
And I admit the same.

I have shared with you your laughter,
You have wet my fur with tears.
We've come to know each other
Throughout these many years.
Just one more hug this morning
Before you drive away,
And know I'll think about you
Throughout your busy day.

The time we've left together
Is a treasured time at that.
My heart is yours forever.
I Promise - This old cat.

Every year King Street Cats welcomes the pitter patter of tiny paws. While we love our cute kittens, our other cats wonder… "what about me?"

King Street Cats' What About Me?™ is a nationally recognized adoption campaign that shines a light on our senior, shy, and special needs cats.

Class of 2023

KSC has a long history of helping cats that other shelters or rescue organizations often cannot. However, it can take more time to find forever homes for these cats. Still, we must find them homes in order to open up the space for other cats who desperately need rescuing.

How can you help?
  • If you are looking to add a cat to your family, please visit us and meet our featured WAM cats
  • Help us by telling friends, family, co-workers and neighbors about our campaign, and encourage them to adopt a senior, shy or special cat from King Street Cats
  • Or make a donation to help us promote our campaign and care for our WAM cats

Complete our online adoption application if you are interested in adopting a specific cat(s)

*Please note we only adopt to those living in the metro DVM (Many of our cats come from high-kill shelters outside the metro DVM in MD/VA, so if you live there, you would be literally saving a life by going directly to the shelters near you)
