GORGEOUS YOUNG FIV+ LOVEBUG ADORES PEOPLE AND LIVED PEACEFULLY WITH OTHER CATS UNTIL HIS HUMAN PASSED AWAY
Hello friends! My name is Benny. Yes, I am FIV+, which means that I have Feline Immunodeficiency Virus. Let's talk about this and then we'll get right into the many reasons why I am completely fabulous and going to make someone a very happy purrson!
This is not the same as Feline AIDS (nor it is like the human form); you cannot catch it, and my care requirements are no different from what any diligent and attentive cat lover does for his or her cat companions. "Feline AIDS" is a condition which may (or may not) develop at the end of a cat's life. An FIV+ cat does not necessarily develop Feline AIDS. That should clear up any confusion you may have about FIV+, which is what I have.
I lived peacefully and contentedly with other non-FIV+ cats in my home until our human became ill and passed away. I am not aggressive, I did not fight with my feline compatriots nor exhibit any other behavior wherein FIV might be transmitted to another cat through a deep tissue puncture wound - and that is the only way it can be transmitted.
Here's what I'll need in terms of care: I'll need you to feed me a high quality diet (preferably a grain-free, high-protein canned/wet food), come to know my behaviors so that you can notice changes that may be health-related, develop a good working relationship with a veterinarian who is current on FIV issues, and seek that veterinarian's assistance if you notice any changes in my behavior. That's all. Wouldn't you do that for any kitty? I thought so! Now, onto the good stuff - ME!
I am a truly gorgeous two (2) year old boy with brown tabby markings, lots and lots of soft, silky, snowy white fur and a beautiful face with chocolate and honey tones centered with a white blaze and stunning green eyes. I have the most adorable little short "bob tail." It'll make you smile.
My personality and disposition are equally as wonderful. I am a true sweetheart. I absolutely LOVE people. I will soak up as much affection as you can give me and return it right back to you. I'm gentle and happy. I like to play, but most of all I love to be near you and to interact with you. You'll see how happy I become when you enter the room. I hope you'll want me by your side as often as possible - I'm meant to be a faithful best friend. I know how to do just that and I can't wait to show you. My new volunteer friends here at King Street Cats are so happy with me. They know what a special catch I am! They will answer any questions you have about FIV.
Please come to meet me. It's easy to get started: send an email to contact@kingstreetcats.org and ask for me, Benny the lovebug. Thank you!
Affectionately yours,
Benny
