Hi my name is Watkins and I have quite a story to tell about my short life so far. You might remember the story about my sisters and I from the King Street Cats Facebook page on 5/4/19. You see we had been outside all alone when we were brought to a big city shelter, which was a very scary place for us. We were about six months old at the time. In April 2019 the shelter put out a “final plea” email about us that said a rescue needed to take us by the end of the day! They described us as being “very difficult” and sick with upper respiratory infections, as well as having an assortment of visual and/or neurological issues. Our future was so uncertain they hadn’t even given us names. I’m afraid to ask what would have happened to us if King Street Cats hadn’t come to our rescue.
King Street Cats knew we were going to be a difficult and expensive proposition; however, they also knew that we deserved the very best chance they could give us. So King Street Cats made the decision to rescue the four nameless little ones and we became the “Racetrack Kittens”: Watkins, Daytona, Charlotte and Indi. I am a handsome tabby boy, Daytona and Charlotte are pretty little torbies, and Indi is a beautiful tortie.
Once our upper respiratory infections had cleared up, we were evaluated at KSC’s veterinary partner Hayfield Animal Hospital so our journey to resolve our other issues could begin. All four of us were taken to an ophthalmologist to determine what our visual issues were. I passed with flying colors. Charlotte’s eyes aren’t quite normal but her vision is good. Daytona and Indi both had issues that required them to have eye surgery.
Since Charlotte and I were both given a clean bill of health, we were lucky enough to go to one of KSC’s fabulous foster homes for a few months. We really blossomed and our foster mom says we are ready to find our furever home. Charlotte and I definitely need to go to a home together as our foster mom says we are “bonded”. I think that means we really love each other! We sleep together, play together, and groom each other. With lots of patience we learned to love being petted by our foster mom and just hanging out with her. I even loved to eat treats from her hand. Charlotte liked to be brushed and I started to like it as well. Our foster mom called me her handsome boy and Charlotte her beautiful baby girl and she always smiled when she said it. Charlotte liked to make little trilling noises to let our foster mom know we love her too!
Do we sound like the pair for you? Come by King Street Cats to meet us. You won’t regret it. Maybe you will decide to be our furever family.
