SWEETEST HEART WITH THE SWEETEST PAWS!

Hi friends, my name is Barry! I'm a young handsome boy ready to go home and love you with all my sweet little heart. Make that big sweet heart - my loving purrsonality is one of my greatest assets!

I was fending for myself in the great outdoors when a kind soul noticed me and began feeding me. This arrangement worked out very well, except for the fact that I really have the heart of an indoor family boy -- and I had to face competitive cats who wanted my food.

One of those cats must have attacked me at some point and given me a deep-bite puncture wound. This is how I acquired FIV, or Feline Immunodeficiency Virus. I'm FIV+, as we say.

Let me address my FIV+ right off the bat so that we can get back to discussing how truly special and adoptable I am!

  • FIV stands for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus.
  • It is *not* human HIV. Humans *cannot* catch FIV. Dogs *cannot* catch FIV.
  • It is spread from cat to cat by means of deep-puncture bite wounds.
  • Having FIV means that at some point I may, or may not, develop a heightened susceptibility to the ailments that we all face regularly.
  • This is the "extra" that I ask of you in order to keep me healthy:
  • Feed me a healthy, high quality diet - one that is protein-based and grain-free... and preferably wet food because this is so much healthier than any dry kibble. Healthier canned food is readily available commercially.
  • Keep me indoors always and away from combative cats
  • Establish a relationship with a veterinarian who is keeps current on the care of FIV+ cats and understands FIV+ well
  • Get to know me and my habits well enough so that you can bring me to the veterinarian anytime you notice that I'm not acting like myself
  • Take me to the veterinarian for regular care and checkups

Wait, that's it? Isn't this what you'd do for any animal companion? Yup, that's all I need.

Now, back to how wonderful I am!

I am a stylish dresser. I'm wearing jet black with a snowy white tuxedo that covers my soft, warm belly and rises up to decorate my face. I've got a little black spot under my nose - sort of like an accent mark. I have bright green eyes. I'm at the ideal adoption age of about one and 1/2 years old.

I am polydactyl! This means that I have "extra" toes on my front paws. It means that I have huge, irresistibly cute front paws that likes of which you've probably never seen. You're going to smile each time I come by to tap you for attention and affection.

I have a wonderfully loving and friendly personality, and I know we're going to love each other and develop a deep bond. Please come and meet me!

It's easy: please send an email to contact@kingstreetcats.org and ask for me, Barry. My KSC friends will arrange a safe and convenient meeting time.

Thank you!

Lovingly yours,
Barry
