Bahn MiI have had Bahn Mi for 4 years now, and in April of 2014, I retired and moved from Virginia back to Tucson, AZ, and of course BahnMi came with me. I am home for much of the day, and she seems to love that. I live on 6 acres of land, and she loves sitting in the windows looking out at the dove, quail, and other birds. She will “chatter” at them when she sees them. She still does not like to be “held”, but she is always in the same room I am in, and will follow me from room to room and will lay down right next to me on the couch and will stay there until I move. She does still play “chase” with me, where she lays in wait alongside the couch and will jump out at me as I walk by and then run away. But most of all she enjoys laying in the sun, of which Tucson has plenty. Thank you so much for saving her from the Prince William Pound on her last day, so that I could bring her to her “forever” home with me. She has brought much joy and laughter to my life. Here are a couple of pictures of her on the back of the couch and looking out the window.Bridgette & Thunder (now Sweetie Belle)"After a bit of a tenuous adjustment at the beginning, both girls are now good friends. They like to bathe each other and have a good tumble together. Bridgette was a bit shy at first, but is now very talkative and opinionated and loves a good snuggle. Sweetie Belle loves her humans and always wants to be with them. Although she's growing, she still maintains the energy, (and mischeviousness) of a kitten. Fortunately, both girls are very tolerant of our energetic, human girls. Thanks for all the work you do!"BuckyHere's Bucky (formerly Faith), enjoying his favorite snuggly throw on the couch. His manners were impeccable around the Christmas tree, and he's been the life of the party at a couple of holiday gatherings. Such a sweet, affectionate, playful, funny kitty!Cheep, Peep, Leaper"I just wanted to let you know everything is going well with the cats! After about one day they pretty much owned the house, and have us all working for them. There are no issues at all between the cats and Rocky - they try to be friendly towards him, but he just avoids them. Even if they are drinking from his bowl, he leaves them alone.Other than slightly underestimating how much three kittens eat and poop - i think we've got it under control! Thanks so much for helping us adopt cats!" ChesapeakeAll is good with Chesapeake. She has settled in well. We have been introducing her to all of our family members and she is loved by all. She is very friendly and playful. Loves playing with wand toys with us when we get home in the evening. Thank you so much for helping us find her!TopDesiDesi is one of our cats originally from St. Croix. Her new mom reports: "She is doing spectacularly well, and passed her annual exam with flying colors. The best news is that Desi now has a little brother, Kit. He was being fostered by a coworker of mine at Friendship Hospital for Animals; when I met him, I knew he was going to be part of our family...they have become best buddies."Djin-Djin"Just checking in to let you know Djin-Djin is doing fine. He is a wonderful cat and very smart and sociable. He enjoys watching the birds at the feeders in between naps. Always lets me know when it's time to eat or when his bowl is getting a bit empty."DublinDublin's mom Melina says he is doing very well now he is in a home of his very own. In fact, he is so cuddly that its hard to get photos: Every time she tries to get a photo he comes and bumps her hand!Duke, Captain & Chief MeowsterWe expanded our little pride to include "Chief Meowster" and our family is complete. Chief fits in perfectly with Duke and Captain. And he is beyond adorable. Duke is teaching him all about our fish, while Captain is teaching him to olay fetch with Dad. Dad built them them a small cat superhighway and a catio...so they are loving life.Dustin, now BoswellDustin is now named Boswell, and he's doing great! It took him no time at all to settle in, and he's been trying several spots for snoozing. So far he likes the bath mat for daytime sleeping & a comfy chair for the night. He's eaten crunchies & wet food and drinks water. And aside from one hilarious moment when he peed in a plant pot when we first got to my apartment, he's been going in the litter box ever since. He's a lovely cat! He very rarely meows but when he does, it sounds like a crow cawing.TopEdgar Houdini & Zelda NachoTheir family tells us: Zelda Nacho is now 7 years old, (she was a kitten when we got her at KSC) and Edgar Houdini is 9 or so. They are a great team, it was such a great idea to adopt the two of themtogether. Eddie remains a solid big brother for Nacho, and they are dedicated to Doug and me, and we to them.Eloise"I just wanted to say thank you for Eloise. She has already made herself [comfortable] at her forever home."EnzymeEnzyme (formerly known as Frenchie) is doing very well. I brought her home in the fall of 2011 as a foster, and she was right around 5lbs at the time. With lots of TLC (and force-feeding A/D), I got her up to about 7 lbs…She thrived after that, but I found that when I took her on mobiles I was too attached to consider anyone else adopting her…." She still has some ongoing medical issues that Dave has in-hand but he tells us: "She's also a very affectionate cat, sleeping at my shoulder or back-to-back every night, and curling up in my lap (provided Isomer isn't already there) when I'm in my comfy chair watching TV, and sitting between me and the keyboard when I'm on the computer. I'm so happy to have her in my life and grateful to have as much time with her as I can get.TopTopGarfieldGarfield is doing well and getting along splendidly with the other cats in the house, he wants to be friends with everyone! He has recently decided that laps are quite wonderful. Though at 20 pounds it can be a challenge to get all of him on my lap.Garfield has taken up residence in my home and in my heart...I am very lucky. TopHarryHappy Birthday to Harry :) His mom, volunteer Hilary tells us: "Our foster cat Harry was born on May 3rd in our house along with his sister Hermione. They are 4 years old today.Hermione is in another forever home while Harry (and mom Saffron, KSC alumni) are with us. Those two were so much fun as kittens while Saffron turned into a helicopter mom." How handsome is Harry! Hatteras & Sanibel (Lighthouse Kittens)Their personalities have really come out as they are getting a little older. Hatteras is such a gentleman, and just wants to be picked up and hugged. He is much more focused on trying to con us into giving him more food or treats, and wants to be wherever we are, with playing with Sanibel coming second on his priority list. Sanibel is a little trouble maker. She is always eating things that she finds around the apartment (we have no idea how. we vacuum constantly.) and likes to steal our socks when they've just come out of the dryer. Both of them are OBSESSED with ice. We have to open our freezer as slowly and quietly as we can, otherwise they are both in the kitchen at our feet meowing for a piece of ice to play with.HoboSafe and happy in his forever home is the adorable Hobo. He has settled in really well and is a very happy boy. Another purrfect ending :)TopIvan "Ivy Bear"Ivan is doing great. He hasn't used his wooden box since we brought him home so we finally threw it away. He did spend a lot of time under the bed for the first 6 weeks or so. Now, he spends almost all of his time out and about. He gets along really well with our dog and one of our cats. The other, younger cat tries to play with him and Ivan isn't really having it, but they tolerate each other :)... He's such a love and a sweet little guy, we couldn't be happier to have him. Thank you for all that your organization does!TopJessicaJessica has settled into her new home and likes to help make the bed.Junior & Guardian (now Mufasa & Simba)After an exhaustive name search they are now Mufasa and Simba. TopKatara & RascalWe can hardly believe that its been 3 years since Katara and Rascal found their forever home. Their family tells us: "They are both doing very well and continue to be in good health. Rascal has matured into a full sized cat but Katara continues to dote on him with facial cleanings; at least until he gets tired of them. Katara is the one who entertains herself the most. She really plays with the various toys and loves chasing rubber bands. We get “gifted” with these after she is done smacking it around the house. Rascal remains the most adventurous, very willing to explore, and there has never been a box or bag that doesn’t need to have him in it. They remain marvelous travelers… Once again, thank you so much for them. They are real joys in our lives.TopLexiHere is a photo of Lexi in her favorite chair! She is real sweet and has adjusted well! LucyIts a festive Adoption Update Friday. We are checking in with Lucy who was adopted from us in Jan 2011. She came to us from the balmy island of St. Croix but she looks like she's enjoying Christmas in Virginia. Thanks to Lucy's family and everyone who has made room in their hearts and homes for rescue animals in 2013.TopMae & Gordon (formerly July & August)A CHRISTMAS STORY from Mae & Gordon (formerly July & August, adopted 8/15).Mae (to Gordon): Did you see Mom and Dad put the big green puzzle back together? Gordon: Yep. And they put lots of colorful toys on it. Mae: Wanna go take it apart again? Gordon: I don’t know. I didn’t like it very much when Mom kept yelling “No! No! No!!! Stop! Stop!” at us. Mae: Me either. but she seems calmer now. Gordon: I think it might be the Feliway they plugged into the wall the other day. Makes ‘em more mellow. Mae: Why don’t we just go take a nap under the puzzle. Gordon: If we look cute, Dad will rub our bellies. Mae: And Mom will pet us and say “I love you Gordon. I love you Mae.” Gordon: Ah, that’s what I like best! ZZZZZZZZ.... MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM MAE AND GORDON AND THEIR FAMILY MalcomA big favorite with all our volunteers, his new family tells us: "King street cats alum monkey (rechristened Malcolm) had a wonderful Christmas with his forever family, the Culps. After an uncertain couple of days, he and fellow alumna, Maggie are now the best of friends. Another KSC success story.Miko & Allie (Formerly Patti)Miko & Allie are celebrating their 2nd adopt-iverssary!Their family tells us: "Just wanted to post a recent photo of Miko and Allie (formerly Patti) as we celebrate their two year adoptiversary! We love them so much!! Thank you King Street Cats!!!" TopNinja & Ertha (formerly Mary Jo)"Very spoiled and very much loved by Matt & Natasha."This mom and son pair are a volunteer-favorite adoption story: Matt and Natasha came to Dove Street, intending to adopt just one cat, and chose Ninja- while they were there, Ninja's foster family happened by, and told the couple all about how wonderful and how close Ninja and his mom were. Ninja went home alone that day, but soon after Matt came back to adopt Ninja's mom too! TopOliverIt seems like yesterday when Julia and I adopted Oliver. We cannot thank you enough for giving us the privilege to adopt our "ninja." Sure, at the beginning he looked shy and quiet, but we can guarantee you that in the last year (since we adopted him), this apartment has not being big enough for his solitary runs and jumps or while chasing Pink (our other cat).TopParker"Parker is a Failed Foster." KSC alum and "Britty kitty" Windsor have adopted Parker to be his little brother. As you can see from the video, Windsor was not going to let foster mom volunteer Lisa V. bring his BFF Parker back to Dove St! Pixie & SunflowerAn update from Pixie and Sunflower:"They jumped on the tub, started each washing themselves, and then moved on to washing each other. They are getting along great, with each other and with us!" Pumpkin (formerly Tortilla)I adopted a little female calico from you around May of 2011. She's a sweet little girl, although very mouthy, especially in the morning when she's hungry. She still has her chronic upper respiratory disease, so she sounds a little like Darth Vadar, and shortly after I adopted her, she had additional mouth surgery to get rid of abcesses, but she's as healthy as she can be. We recently moved to Wisconsin, and there's a screened-in porch, with lots of birds and wild rabbits outside that she adores watching. She's been an absolutely wonderful companion, and although she has her little quirks, we've really enjoyed being together these last three years.TopQuincy PeetaIt's been about two months since we adopted Peeta, so I wanted to let you know that we are head over heels in love with him! We changed his name to Quincy, but kept Peeta as his middle name and he doesn't seem to mind :) He is the biggest cuddle-bug I've ever met, and as soon as we brought him home he acted like he had lived there for years. He's super friendly and purrs constantly, and loves to curl up right on Dustin's chest every evening. He really is the perfect cat for us and I'm so happy we came by King Street Cats and found him. I can't thank you enough!I've attached a few photos of him in his natural element (lounging and snuggling) and even one of his new balancing trick (he fell asleep with his arm sticking straight up so we set an M&M on his paw to see how long it could balance; it made it to two minutes before he moved). TopRosso & NoreanaRosso & Noreana came to us in a very distressed state having been found in an apartment with their person who had sadly passed away unexpectedly. We were frankly worried as they were so despondent, refusing to eat and getting URIs. Thankfully an angel came to their rescue who agreed to take them on and give them the TLC they so desperately needed.Their new mom reports: "Just wanted you to know they are both healthy and doing really well. They really are the sweetest cats. Rosso (pictured) is very playful and active. Noreana is slightly more reserved but she has also loves to play. And eat, as long as it is not canned wet food. Although they hid away for the first month or so, they now very much at home." We are so thankful to Ellen and everyone else who has adopted from KSC in 2013. TopSocksHis family tells us that Socks is feeling much better after getting over his cold and he is now slowly making friends with his new feline sister Petunia.Sofie & ChloeSofie "adopted" Chloe as a kitten after nursing her own litter and we made sure they wentto their forever home together. Their mom emailed us soon afterwards: "As you will see from these photos, the girls are getting very comfortable on my bed. On Saturday, they explored the study. Yesterday, the guest room. I caught Chloe climbing the baby gate at the top of the stairs. A few minutes later, when I wasn't looking, she climbed completely over and went downstairs by herself. When I discovered that, I opened up the gate and Sofie immediately went down to join Chloe in exploring. So, they now have the run of the house. I'd say the girls are settling in quite nicely.TopTuffy (now Mike)His dad tells us: "I picked up a little sneezing kitten named Tuffy (now 'Mike') on Nov 2010, he's now emigrated to Canada and he is a suck up! Thanks so very muchTopWhoopiAs you can see Whoopi and her new sibling Maisy get along great and keep each other busy! |
